Default It's been a year

Well in month it will be a year since Black Monday. Based on my own personal experience, it's been a hell of a ride since then. I went to local place close to home for a short time. Got tired of hand unloads and went to another for a whole 3 days, Not for me. Thanks but no thanks. If it wasn't for the color of the truck I could have sworn it was the same one I drove for Old Dominion 15 years ago. So I go to another outfit close to home. It's a small place, equipment is great, so is the owner. I'm home every day but, I'm also slamming into the 14 hr. rule every day. At .32 cents a mile the pay ain't all that good.
Now I get a call from another carrier and I'm thinking wow, good place to drive. Spent 6 months there and the only thing I drove was a fork lift. The wife tells me that I am becoming an ogre but she understands why. I fill out an application for Saia. They call me and we talk.

Been with them since Feb. I actually get to do what I've been trained to do for the last 30 years, yup you guessed it, drive The wife tells me that I am no longer an ogre, and that I am much easier to live with. It's NOT JEVIC, and it will never be like it, but I am now calling it home.
I do miss Jevic and all the friends I made. For me, it was a hell of a good place to work. I'll always have the memories and the friends I made to think about. I still miss the place but I think I've been able to put it behind me now and I am now able to make a new home for myself.

We aren't there anymore but, We are still the "Best of the Best" and I'll never change my opinion on that. So on May 19th I plan on opening a beer, I'll lift it in a toast to all of us, and I'll say "thanks for the memories". Then I'll drink it.

Later
Al K. J2

Default Raise a glass on May 19th!

I can't believe its been almost a year. I really do miss Jevic, I liked most of the people I worked with and delt with through the years, but I really miss the paychecks!!! I worked the dock for 7 years at Jevic, now I got my CDLs and I'm a city driver for Fedex Freight, and I still work the dock. Nowhere near the pay I was getting, and I'm fixing to start a part time job at Sam's Club. All in all it has been an adventure to say the least. Good luck to all the former Jevic employees!!!!

Hi...Al . Tom H. here and it sure has bee a long year. Like you I miss all the friends that I made over the years. I too will raise a bottle and toast the fond memories of J2. I go by j2 3-4 times aweek and it just sits empty. What a waste. Maybe we could have a get together this summer.

Thats correct. We were thinking about the woods near Crestwood, il. that is close to the expressways and hotels in case some of the drivers come in from out of town, we'll keep you updated.
