Colts Fan,I'm not sure about the pay,but from what I've heard Indy breaks about 80 to 100 trailers a day.I'm a p&d driver at the South Bend terminal and we have 8 p&d and 3 linehaul drivers.Depending on the amount and destinations of the freight we send 2 or 3 trailers to Indy 5 days a week.
Sometimes our linehaul drivers will layover in Nashville,TN or even Memphis, but usually they get home every day.Ocasionally they run to Cleveland,OH,Chicago, and Seymour,IN where they do a swap with a Nashville driver. We also get drivers from down south that come up to our terminal.
From what I've heard Milan is big down south and the northern terminals are mainly there to service their big customers.South Bend is a dark terminal.I deliver to 5 Menard's stores in my area for Black and Decker and Sylvania light bulbs, sometimes 3 to 4 days a week to each store, that's my largest account I deliver.
The drivers at my terminal seem fairly happy and many have been there 5-10 years. In the short time I've been there it seems to be a good company.I know they took a pay cut last October and again in February 2009 totaling 16%,but they are talking about getting some back this month.I guess this past year has been tough on a lot of companies Milan included.
The president of our company just visited our terminal this week and said Milan just about went under last year, but things are getting better.Milan has been around for 40 years and has about 1,000 trucks,so hopefully I'll have a job for awhile.
