Retired Mechanic thinking about Driving
Hi everyone My name is Mike, I have been an Auto Mechanic/ Body Man for 30 Years. I got feed up with the lack of qualified help and closed my shop two years ago. I worked as hourly employee for two years at a successful shop. I was good at it, but being 54 years old, and having meat hooks for hands. I am just not fast anymore to make a good wage. Also everything has gone to mostly maintenance type work where experience just doesn't pay anymore. I don't want to be a manager. I had my own shop and believe me you get tired of being a babysitter for these Generation Xers. I sold all my equipment and tools. I'm done with anything that has to do upkeep and repair of anything mechanical. 30 years ago I used to do Body Work on Large Trucks and also would Pick up and Deliver them. I had thought of Driving for a living, but I had 5 kids at home that needed a father, and wanted to be home for them. Now they are all grown up, and I sit and home and watch a lot of TV. (Ever wonder why people commit suicide?) watching that stupid box will do it to you! Anyway I am siting here wondering what I'm going to do for the rest of my life. I thought I would own and operate my own business till I fell over dead. May be I did die, and I forgot to fall down? You know how your memory gets when you get old. :) Any way I would like to talk to and may be ride with a driver to see if this is something that I would like to do. I love adventure, and after feeling like being in a prison cell for 15 years running my own business 24/8 I need to get out in the world and see what I've been missing. God Bless all you drivers out there. You are what makes the world turn. looking forward to your response to this post, Mike
