Hi,

I started trucking 10 months ago. I have a linehaul job, which I generally like. Apparently I am lucky to have a local job right out of the gate.

I want to know how typical my job is and whether I should look for something better, now that I have some experience.

My schedule is approx 4 pm to 2 am for the driving part. My route is 585 miles round trip, and I go from eastern Pa up to southern mass, lots of traffic.

I work Mon thru Fri. I get $190 for each trip I make, which comes out to 32 cents per mile.

Is 585 a lot of miles for a linehaul job? I heard one driver say he only drives 410 miles per day and makes 51 cents per mile.
