P.A.M. transport or USA truck? Well I'm just about down to these two companies. My application to schneider was turned down, everybody said to stay away from swift, maverick doesn't offer cdl training, neither does melton, and CRST only runs teams.
I applied through driver solutions which goes through PAM, USA, and Averitt. Averitt sounds like some tight asses run it because they have uniforms and a policy against facial hair and tattoos so that's out.
Anyway my question is....out of pam or usa which would be better? I would like to get good miles, and not have to do very much unloading. I think usa said they were 90% no touch and pam is 85% drop and hook. What exactly do those numbers mean??
Right now I'm leaning towards pam because they have a $1000 sign on bonus and a $1000 safty bonus after one year.
The pay between the two is very close, it's actually the same the first three month's but then usa jumps up a little.
P.A.M. starting pay
0-3 month's .28
3-6 month's .29
6-9 month's .30
9-12 month's .31
1 year+ .32
one year's pay at 2500 miles a week $35,400
plus $1,000 sign on bonus and $1,000 safty bonus = $37,400
USA truck starting pay
0-3 month's .28
3-6 month's .29
6-12 month's .32
1 year+ .36
one years pay at 2500 miles a week $36,300
I'm not sure if I would get that many miles or not and I don't know how to figure other things like unloading pay, detention pay or any of that so this is just a milage pay comparison.
So since they are about even on pay I wanted to get your opinions on which one is the best to work for. Does anybody have experience with both? And I know these aren't the best out there but it's what I can get started with. I plan on going to melton or maverick after my year is up since flatbed is what I want to do in the first place.
Thanks for your help, this site has been very educational for me!
