 Shifting an 8 speed
The only truck of any size I've driven is a GMC 5 & 4 speed gas pot gravel truck. I now have a chance to drive an 8 speed Volvo and a MaC. Are the shift patterns the same on both vehicles. Is floating the gears allowed? The only time I touched the clutch on the 5 & 4 was to get the beast moving. Perhaps you could explain exactly how I should shift these units. I'd like to have some clue before tuesday morning. Sure be nice to have a heads up before I go to the shop.
