The Pittsburgh Steelers has signed rookie wide receiver Limas Sweed, their second-round draft pick, to a four-year contract.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6ft 4in Sweed could fill a major need this season for the Steelers, who have been looking to provide quarterback Ben Roethlisberger with a tall receiving target.
Pittsburgh's top receivers, Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes, are both under 6ft tall.
Once projected as the top receiver in this year's draft class, Sweed saw his stock drop due to wrist surgery which cost him most of his senior season at the University of Texas. He had just 19 catches for 306 yards and three touchdowns last year.
Sweed did enjoyed an outstanding junior season, when he had 46 receptions for 801 yards and tied a school record with 12 TD catches.
