Not a slur,imo,but not a smart comment from a veteran announcer.Bet he wouldn't make a watermelon comment in reference to a black man.

"Look at that little monkey run"..I heard that was a moniker Cosell used describing his grandchildren also,and was a tongue and cheek comment.If that statement was made today from an announcer they would be strung up.

or how about "Jimmy the Greek", what he said about black athletes, "being breed to run", or something like that....???

i think that was about the first time anyone got blasted for a comment like that, Cosell could have been after this incident.......but i ain't sure.

i stand corrected, it WAS Cosell first, at least regarding on air insults.
