Thursday's announcement by the IBT that UPS and Central States had agreed in principle on a potential withdrawal of UPS Teamsters from the fund has me asking "Where are our union trustees on the fund"?!

Where is the normally outspoken Fred G.? Where is Jerry Y., George W. and Charles W.? Why the "dead silence" from our Central States Executive Director Mr. N.? Why the secrecy during these negotiations? Why haven't the members (participants in the fund) been told about the actuarial studies that have been conducted?

The IBT has tried to distance themselves from these shenanigans, but why haven't they come out and forced the fund to give us the answers! Fred G. is an International VP! Why doesn't the General Executive Board put some heat on this guy to keep his members (participants) informed?!

We can only hope that the Teamsters National UPS Negotiating Committee will SOUNDLY REJECT this attempt to bust up the Central States Pension Fund, and not even consider recommending this to the membership for a vote! Jim H. and Ken H. should tell Mr. E. and his henchmen at UPS that they will not let them open the floodgate for other employers like DHL, YRC, ABF, who are waiting in the wings for their opportunity to destroy the Central States Pension Fund and the rest of our pension funds one by one!
