Definition of Union:

An organization of workers formed for the purpose of advancing its members' interests in respect to wages, benefits, and working conditions.


It seems now that the interests of everybody but the workers are being advanced. I joined the Teamsters Union in 1979. I worked 27 years, retired and I am enjoying a good pension and benefits because the workers who came before me and the union that represented them believed in looking after the workers. I am happy that the UPS Freight people will get to experience union representation. But I fear the representation they get and what I enjoyed will not be the same. I am not going to argue the pros and cons of the contract that is being negotiated.

From the posts I read all of you are doing a very good job in addressing the issues. I wish you well. I hope you will get to enjoy the fruits that I have enjoyed because workers and the union, a long time ago,truely believed in the definition of union.
