Local 247 in Detroit held a stewards training program on April 6.
Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa, who was the surprise guest, greeted the stewards and shared thoughts about tasks ahead for the union.
Hoffa also stressed the importance of becoming politically active in this year�s election process, and challenged the group to take his message back to their worksites and encourage their members to register to vote and become participants in D.R.I.V.E.
Stewards have an important role in this process,
Hoffa said.
