The Employee Free Choice Act would let all workers join a union by signing an authorization card, neutralizing employer threats and union-busting tactics. It would act just like the neutrality agreement the Teamsters won with UPS Freight after it bought Overnite Transportation. Overnite fought unionization for more than 50 years. But as soon workers were given the ability to join the union without being threated by their employer, 11,000 drivers and dockworkers joined the Teamsters in just 12 weeks.
