I left because Yellow does not have a good track record at running other companies. It turned out to be a good move, but now they have aquired the USF companies and have not set the world on fire with their poor manegment skills with running a short haul company. I'm going to stick this one out for the reason I can retire at any time.
I have never liked the way Yellow ran their business or treated their people, so for the the decision to jump to UPS Freight, I would give it some serious thought! UPS runs a tight ship, but they know how to run a business and make a profit. Also, I wouldn't think you would have to worry about another company buying you out, as it would take a lot of money to buy any part of their organization.
Just my opinion,
Cruzer

I'm probably going to be the only devil's advocate here but there is one thing that makes USF look good right now. That is YRC's attempt to by the chinese trucking company (forget the name even if I could spell it). Seems to be stalled with the slow down in the economy but should it finally go through, the whole reason YRCW wanted USF is because of thier huge intermodial. If that deal goes through, it might make your position alot stronger. Still a roll of the dice. I would think that the amount of senority you have would be the swaying factor. Good luck with your choice and congrats with the baby.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

All very good answers and may I add, don't forget that you have a "Cobra" option should you stay with USF and get laid off. It's expensive yes but you could opt for coverage for wife only. Aprox $100 a week in my conference. Good Luck. |

Good luck in whatever you decide. | If I was anyone in YRCW,,,and I am,,, I would not leave right now. I would especially not go to UPS or their attempt at a freight company called UPS Freight. While overnight was a great company in their time...When UPS bought them (Overnight) they (UPS) told Overnight to lower their prices 30% so they could go after the competitors. Well. This was a great idea. And it worked. Thanks UPS (United Parcel Service) (PARCEL SERVICE) for getting into the freight business. But now, guess what...It's time to school you and that other company that has done the same thing... FEDEX...
YELLOW...who is part of YRCW has a new plan to counter act yours...it's called Copy Conway (YES) and also not worry about pricing...,,,just customer base...,,, the war that ROADWAY (who is also YRCW now) started (RPS) is definitely on and I'm glad to be a part of the YRCW team...Anyone wants to leave... |
