I didn't compose this, I read it in an editorial about a mayor who refused to debate another politician running against him for the job.
" Debates are tense and unpredictable forums in which competing views clash. In the end yielding useful information about a candidate's worthiness for elected office - clues that can't be gleaned anywhere else, certainly not from the prepackaged pabulum spewed out by election campaigns."
I feel that President Hoffa owed it to the members to have been at that debate
Since he has been president has anyone ever seen him in any type of forum where he was put on the spot with real (unscripted) questions ?
I met him at a campaign rally 7 years ago as he worked the crowd shaking hands & answering our questions. The man was good !! I believed in him.
Now it seems that he is too good for us. Everything is just a photo op or scripted appearance and speech.
Before he was elected he walked around shaking hands & now you have to pay $20 to shake his hand.
