Default Turned his back

To the pro Hoffa people on this thread....I'll ask this question again. Why has Hoffa turned his back on the NMFA ? Why does he need to negotiate a seperate contract for UPSF/Overnite ?

I keep reading their press releases bragging about the great job they are doing but I don't understand the need for a seperate contract.

There is probably a simple reason for the need for these negotiations. But then what do I know I am just a dumb truckdriver.

I wish someone would explain to me why the NMFA isn't good enough for UPS management Don't get me wrong I hope the men get a great contract. But someone PLEASE tell me that it won't hurt the rest of us in freight.

Hoffa is for freight.... right ????

I didn't compose this, I read it in an editorial about a mayor who refused to debate another politician running against him for the job.

" Debates are tense and unpredictable forums in which competing views clash. In the end yielding useful information about a candidate's worthiness for elected office - clues that can't be gleaned anywhere else, certainly not from the prepackaged pabulum spewed out by election campaigns."

I feel that President Hoffa owed it to the members to have been at that debate

Since he has been president has anyone ever seen him in any type of forum where he was put on the spot with real (unscripted) questions ?

I met him at a campaign rally 7 years ago as he worked the crowd shaking hands & answering our questions. The man was good !! I believed in him.

Now it seems that he is too good for us. Everything is just a photo op or scripted appearance and speech.

Before he was elected he walked around shaking hands & now you have to pay $20 to shake his hand.

2361 I believed also at one time. Now time has shown me how much to believe but even back then I would not have given 20 bucks

Me attend a TDU meeting? LOL! I don't think so. I know all about them and what they really do.....attempt to divide the membership, which weakens us as a group. TDU is s a longterm effort to break up the Teamsters from within since years ago the Union was impenetrable from the outside. And why is it that they will NEVER disclose where the money comes from? What great accomplishments can they hang their hat on when they ran things in the 90's?
I don't go to Hoffa meetings either and I've stated that he's not a great Prez. Who would be a great one nowdays? The ME generation has also infiltrated the Teamsters in case you haven't noticed. Today's average member wouldn't make a pimple on the butt of almost any member 20 years ago. Greed and self-centeredness has overtaken Brotherhood to a large degree as well. And last but not least, look at the willingness of the people nowdays to work for non Union Companies and be dictated to...all the while accepting the raises in their heathcare contributions and changing 'policy books' as just being normal. And I didn't even mention the lack of Gov't enforcement of the Labor Laws.....just what do you expect Hoffa or Leedham to do? They're both gonna talk tough and tell us how great they are........yet no matter who wins we'll be lucky to hang on to what we still have. That's the reality of the current situation, and TDU will never change that no matter what kind of BS they spew.
