I don't think this is about bringing back GI for those who were with them, I think it's more about fairness.
The Big E has done nothing but go downhill even before the GI buyout. Now after the buyout it's even going down faster. It's not GI that brought us down, it's leadership, leadership, leadership.
As I stated before, union just seems to be the only answer. Not threats of, dreams of or talk of ..... but do it. Reading posts from Big E guys from before the GI buyout and the guys from out west after the GI buyout all say basically the same thing: Once you start a movement, ownership comes out with the big guns and infiltrate the troops, threaten, promise everything under the sun and squash the movement.
Look what has happened since southern CA vote, promises up the yang and then the screws were put to the employees. Layoffs, illegal firings, a dispatch that should have a sign above their desks saying "I am not smarter than a fifth grader", renegade independently minded terminals, runs...runs...runs and more runs cut for more extra board, teams and now independents, etc. It sure sounds like theres a movement in the leadership to rid themselves of all the seniority wages out west too.
Remember though, a few positives did come out of the west's movement. Overtime and delay pay were improved. Why, because the ex-GI's put their necks on the line for the rest of us. You may not all agree with Elvis, but he speaks truth about what happened out there. He was there, not us. So, give him the benefit of the doubt when he posts.
Anyway, if we could just come together for the common good of our fellow employees, maybe we could get something done.
Maybe about 10-15 terminals voting the same day!!!!!!
