It appears as if they are trying to do just that... http://www.truckingboards.com/trucki...ce-agents.html What gives? Just what is they're stance on illegals?

Some unions will represent Illegal aliens, they just don't ask about citizenship. Just like corporations who hire them. Union leaders are there to increase numbers and their power. Just like the electrical union in Texas who used non-union labor to build the union hall. All to save money.

I'm not sure what you're driving at, but here's a quote from the article .....

" There's no question that immigration is a difficult issue. The Teamsters certainly do not endorse unfettered hiring of undocumented workers. That drives wages down and continues this system of fear and intimidation. "

Again, the corporations are the one's that do the hiring, not the unions. It would seem that the companies should be more aware of their hiring practices.

I agree that union leaders want to increase membership. Strength in numbers and solidarity means a better future for you and me. As far as representing illegals, see my above post .......

Also, I'm not aware of the electrical unions hall being built by non union labor. I'd be interested in reading the article if you have a link.

Understand that I am just a driver , and
possibly ignorant on many things . All a long I thought that companies had to follow laws when it came to hiring issues.
Just like unions who represent members.
I also thought that union leaders , from
the bottom up , shop steward to president,
were elected by the members ,and there to
represent the members . One would think
that if , a union hall were built by , and actually owened by the union , it certainly would have used union labor .
Possibly you could eduacate myself and
others on all the above . Perhaps you could also include documentation to back
your statements to the spacific issues I
raised .
Thank You

More of a question..., What is the unions stance on organizing illegals? {I assume they were aware of this possiblity going in this drive.} How do members feel about this issue, do you see this as a problem/threat? How do labor leaders respond to complaints by members concerning thier attempts to organize illegals. Judging from the statement you quoted, I assume they consider organizing them is good, because once accomplished they are no longer a thread to lowering the industry wage level.
