Has there still been talks bout the union stuff, im over in fresno, ca (CWFW) and we been hearing about the east, and Im curious about this topic, to see how it will affect us on the west!!!!

I remember talking to a local about Con-way and their efforts at organizing the Midwest.
They said all you guys did was complain about policy and takeaways each and every time you showed up to the meetings. You guys talked the talk but when it came time to make that stand only a few stood up. They since have given up their hard efforts on the Con-way Midwest area until they can rally their own troops. (They will be there for you, but you really need to charge hard and not back down) Very very tough in my opinion.
Their efforts are focused on UPSF and FedEx.
Con-way has proven to be tough at this point and is last on the list.
I really think if FedEx goes Union, their just might be a very good chance for Con-way to finally stand up as one.

I honestly doubt that FedEx will ever go Union, There are just too many Divisions. Express, Freight East, West, National, Ground, Home Delivery, Kinkos, Custom Critical.

anyone that leaves always finds out it was better at conway all i hear is babies whining and crying about how bad conway is yet these infants keep showing up everyday. trucking jobs are easy too find and if i hated my job as much as so many people claim it would be worth taking a pay cut and moving on. face the facts jack no body is going too start a union campaign and thats for sure. i really thought some fool might try to organize after our pension dilema but it did not happen so if that did not cause a union nothing will. like i said if you hate something change your scenery.

and could someone please explain what the heck a organization test meeting is? i am not the best searcher of information on google and yahoo but i cant find anything about a organizational test meeting

I agree with that statement. Nothing was done and that was a really big nut kicker of a takeaway.

I think the "Organization Test Meeting" is just a coined phrase by the original poster testing the waters.

To me it's just a bunch of disgruntled drivers, interested drivers and tattle tale rat drivers sitting in on a meeting to hear the Teamsters present what a "Union Can Do For You" and coming out of that meeting feeling good that someone heard their complaints.

The Midwest has been there and done that and NOTHING became of it. Most of the supporters took a step back when it was time for them to step forward.
After that debacle the teamsters said come back when you grow some balls and are serious.

I'm almost inclined to believe that Con-way will NEVER become union anytime soon.
No one there wants to set the precedence and be the soldier that gets the Con-way axe swung at them. (They have to much at stake to be the leader)

This Previous topic should inspire you to either jump ship to a union carrier or take on Mama Con-way as a brotherhood.

...Otherwise just ride the Con-wave.
