granted the ford and harley monies were less than 10K - but it is a start.

I have high hopes for my Teamsters 401K when the econ upturns and my deposits build.

Not sure how old you are but that is a great start. I'll never have a pension so I am doing as much as I can with the 401k, Roth Ira, and various liquid funds. It still amazes me how many people are oblivious to the Roth Ira. EVERYONE should have one.
