I can see the couriers at my station wanting a union. I've heard though it's not that bad at other stations.

Thanks for answering my question about being part time. At union shops part time was never an option until the new NMFA contract. Because of companies like FedEx, union companies are now claiming they need to use part timers, too. But that is just on the dock. You say you have heard that things are not that bad at other stations. I bet I can guess where you heard that. Propaganda is the weapon of choice for non-union companies in their battle against us evil unions.

As long as I've been in this business I've been told to never cross a picket line. When you do you're messing with all of the people on strikes ability to accomplish the reason they are on strike in the first place. In other words if you cross trying to feed your family, your screwing the strikers ability to get their point across. Save yourself the hassle and return the freight to the dock and tell your management you didn't feel "safe" crossing the picket line.

I did answer in a previous post. Or weren't you being sarcastic. It's hard to tell from the internet :)

Actually I hear it from other employees who transfer into our station. I'm transferring out though to be a trucker

I know somebody who was shot at while he was driving his truck during the strike.

It's amazing how people think they're justified in committing violent crimes when someone crosses. Unions got a bad name when there members started acting irrational.

I probably would not cross, but I also hope to never be put in that situation. I just want to keep on trucking and bring home a paycheck.

I understand there frustration, but harming others is not the answer. Maybe there could be a better system put in place. I don't see why the Department of Labor can't do anything.

I feel secure in my job, and feel I am paid fairly for the work I do, but I speak for myself working at express. I have no working knowledge of how freight runs.

I'm sorry, I missed that post. I was not being sarcastic. I am sarcastic far too often on these boards, so this was an anomaly. I understand where atvnut is coming from. However if you are not a union member, you are not required to honor a picket line. As a matter of fact, you could and probably would lose your job if you told your boss you were not going to cross a line. But as times get tougher and unions get squeezed, those people are not going to be so forgiving. I'm just glad I don't have to face that dilemma.

you know, I don't know why they're so willing to terrify people who cross, when we all have one common enemy. OPEC

I don't see them out there picketing at OPEC's door, or terrifying the executives.
