Desert rat i trully believe that not all terminals will go union only the ones the have issues with there local managment. Lets say 2 0r 3 went i dont think a company like fedex will fold overnight. If ups is union and there making money why wouldn't fedex. Also whats funny theres is a lot of fedex managers here on the boards that try to say nothing but negative stuff about the union. The fact is if the union comes in more employees will have a voice and managers jobs will be cut. MR Zanolli V.P. of operation of FedEx Freight West violated the Act in Fresno by discussing union matters and questioning employee’s choice for union representation in front of other employees.Well see what happends in next fex dayS.Ill keep you guys posted.

Just for the record I am just a linedriver. I am in no way associated with management. I have worked in union shops and non-union shops and as far as my experiences have shown me I would choose a non-union job any day. Without a union a company can adjust to the demands of the marketplace quickly and more effeciently thus lessening the impact of market forces on their workers. The speed with which a company can adjust can be critical in keeping a company viable in the industry. A union could slow down the changes that could be necessary and cripple a company that can not meet changing demands. Just remember that a union is a business like any other business. Their main objective is to make money for themselves. The way to do that is to get more union members who pay more dues. they will promise things that they cannot possibly make happen just to achieve that goal. They are kind of like politicians in that regard. I hope things work out for you guys in Fresno. Good Luck.

I managed to get another job before this happened and didn't have to depend on the union finding me a job. Most of those guys didn't get a job for months. If a job is that bad maybe it's time to get a different one. Maybe with Yellow or ABF or UPS if you think that a union job is for you.
No doubt about it, UPS has struggled for years trying to make a go of it with that stupid damned union.
