i have never treated another person like a d!ck because he was a union worker although many times i have been treated like a d!ck because i am not in a union.btw i support the union workers never crossed a line never will and hope my company one day does become union but i think when it comes to treating someone poorly because they are in or not in a union is bullshit and 9 out of 10 times it is the union company people giving the non union company guy a hard time.

my main problem with the union is the communication to the rank and file union member.if a union is on strike you can ask 50 different people and may get as many as 30-40 different reasons they are on strike and i base this on the strike held in my delivery area by a machinists union.they had ads on the radio saying why they were on strike ,but talking to the men and women holding the signs ,they said other things and were not even part of the dispute.after all was settled the new contract was almost a carbon of the old contract.so the people holding their signs lost 24 weeks of work just to get what they had before.so i guess my problem would end up being with who ever runs the local union hall no matter what branch or type.

I used to go into customers all the time when there would be several non-union drivers present and I was the only union driver. They would all look down their noses at me and act superior. I used to wonder what the hell they must be getting told that would make them act this way.

Grocery store whse's are bad about doing this to non-union workers. So are places in Las Vegas like casinos, trade show events etc. If you are non union, you can wait hours while union drivers can get unloaded in a reasonable time.
I don't think anyone, union or not should be treated differently than anyone else.
The only problem I have with unions is the leadership. They say they are for the workers, but they support politicians who want to tax people to death, think child molesters should run free( in cal) and who fight to make sure background checks are not done on people who are around children (teachers union in Ca).
Try to look at it this way driver..... the fact that your company chooses to be non union has nothing to do with you, therefore if you go somewhere and they take forever to unload you it will cost the company money due to their choice. You on the otherhand get to sit on your duff and rake in the money. So in fact what I'm telling you is relax and enjoy your money....spend it on your family. Go out to dinner or do something fun with them and think about that person in the warehouse that made u wait to piss u off, and only made u more money, well I guess you had the last laugh didn't you

I know, you're right. I also used to have non-union drivers come up to me and make fun of my not so new tractor, because they were driving the newest and latest model. I used to look at them in utter disbelief. I'd tell them I don't give a damn what they make me drive. I'm not doing this so I can drive a new truck, I'm doing it to make a living. I don't live to work, I work to live. And retire comfortably, which I am. A lot of them don't like to think about this last part. It pisses them off. But I earned it, driving that old junk.
