How would Seniority work in a non-union Co? A few months ago when a mechanics postion was eliminated in the company--the person in this postion was able to bump into the bid list at his hire date ahead of three other drivers who were already on layoff. The eliminated position was one that was never subject to layoff nor was it EVER part of the bi-annual bid process--no bids were ever posted for the postion--no bidding process for vacations. It was only after the elimination of the postion did Local 671 of Hartford CT decide it was all one list. I thought in order to be part of the bumping process you needed to be part of the bidding process--subject to the exact same rules for start time, vacations, bids and layoffs. What would happen in a non-union company as we know what happened in a Union company |
