NOOOO not on this thread you don't see that. You are still trying to make this a union/nonunion issue. This thread is about overtime plain & simple. All the "bigboys" like the nonunion FedExs & Conways pay their people overtime.
Overtime;
1. working time before or after one's regularly scheduled working hours; extra working time.
2. pay for such time (distinguished from straight time).
3. time in excess of a prescribed period.

Thanks a9faninnc, that question just about sums up all my reasons for the posts that I make concerning overtime pay.....Its all about the attempt by greedy corporations to lower the standards for American workers.
Standard;
something considered by an authority or by general consent as a basis of comparison; an approved model.
The unions fought long & hard for many years to establish the standards that American workers enjoy today....The FedExs & Conways realized this & for whatever their reasons they didn't use the exemption in the Federal overtime law to deny paying their hard working employees the industry standard overtime pay that they deserved....Now we are seeing some of the smaller nonunion LTL companies, who use the "loophole" in the law & don't pay their workers overtime, try & join the "bigboys" by expansion....... So we we now have a battle for control of who will set the standards in the LTL industry........I do not want to see the industry standards which most of us enjoy today lowered by greedy companies like the Estees & R&Ls that won't even pay their hardworking employees overtime.
The way things are going in this country, either we bring them up to our standards or they will eventually drag us down to theirs. And by we I mean all American workers union & nonunion. Overtime pay is not a union issue.
