Guys..........just as info. The Teamsters Union are overseen by the US Government. They must report spending and salaries and post them in a Department Of Labor report called a LM2. If you have any questions they can be found here. Everyone from Hoffa to the local business agent in your area. There are no secrets, it's all public info. I do know if you take the pay of the business agents from my local (391)make, go ahead and look it up, and divide how many hours they put in a week, you and I make more per hour than they do, union or non. They provide a service and help the membership. I thought you would find it interesting. DS.

Mr.J.Hoffa jr. is the top guy he has his team, than every local has a president, and their teams of local union officials all getting paid by union members dues.
Every one in the Teamster organization is making a good living as well as benefits,am I correct?
So how do all these folks earn the money their members are paying them, when contracts are years apart?
Just a thought, all these Teamster officials from the highest,to the lowest, also receive other perks as well as their wages, and benefits such as all expences paid trips, from, time to time, and other gifts from within the organization.
This is something I woundered about even when I was a dues paying Teamster member.
So I thought this is a good time to ask, seeing we are posting organizing ideas these days. | I would ask, what exactly the top executives in your company do to earn their outrageous salaries and perks too.
At least the Teamster officials are working for the members. Your company executives sometimes appear to be working against their employees, while making those million dollar pay days and stock option grants.
If you don't think they are working against you, then why haven't they made your job easier, more comfortable, better managed at all levels and provide the right equipment and facilities ?

Yeah, why does everyone harp on labor leaders for making a decent living, sometimes in the 6-figure range, when corporate executives are making millions upon millions? Not to mention stock options, private jets, and golden parachutes. It's ok for the big boys to rake in the huge payday for wearing suits and attending board meetings, but God-forbid those who represent the working man should get paid. Quote: |

I personally know a few BAs that I have spent time with during non working hours and I can tell you that their phone never stops ringing.
These guys are basically on call 24/7 to handle any problems that may come up and when the phone rings, they have to be available

| | Well its something I was woundering about?
Just thought I'd ask.
Althought the Teamsters started out as an organization to reform poor labor condition of the transportation of Americas goods.
They'er now something like the tobbaco industry,in that they have other companies outside of trucking that they represent.
The tobbaco companies started out producing, and selling tobbaco products.
But now that the government has cracked down on the high medical costs, related to the harm of being a smoker.
All of these companies have diversified in that they've invested in companies that have no relationship with the tobbaco industry.
C.E.O.'s of companies run the day to day operation of companies that are either doing something, or producing something,to fulfill a need, and make a profit.
Where the Teamsters are like a protection agency for the members they represent working for union organized companies.
This maybe just my opinion but the Teamsters may have the diversity to servive without representing any companies in the trucking industry?
Just as the tobbaco companies are serviving from their unrelated tobbaco product companies.
The Teamsters organization would be able to go on without trucking ,seeing there isn't that many union organized trucking companies left to day.
What do you think about that?
