Dues money cannot legally be used to support political activities. There is a program within the Teamsters Union called D.R.I.V.E. It stands for Democratic Republican Independent Voter Education. If you get this negotiated into your contract you can then donate from each paycheck to D.R.I.V.E. and your money will then be used to political purposes. You can also make contributions by writing a check.

All we as union members ask is that before you make a decision as to whether you want to be union or not, make an educated decision. Find out the answers. Comment like the one above, with no truth to it is what causes all the problems. Lack of education.

When I see a union that takes pride in it's work force, instead of fighting for the weak and lazy so that I can continue to work harder to carry their dead asses, then I might consider it...having done it for 10 years and gained nothing from it, I will take a lifetime pass now...
And please don't even begin to tell me I know nothing of what I speak...10 years at Yellow with the biggest pieces of worthless crud I ever associated with makes me more than knowledgeable...My father was a proud 40 year teamster, but the work ethic left with that generation...they understood where their paycheck came from, and it never had a Local number on it..the guys signing on the last 15 years think everything is owed to them, and I can't wait until they get what's coming to them...and they will...in time...

I may have worded that a little strongly, and incorrectly. However, lack of education is not the issue.

I do not need to be "educated" about my feelings on certain issues.

Taxes.. Should be as low as possible. Capital gains should not exist. I do believe Obama wants a 28% capital gains tax.

Illegal immigration.. We need to end it, and deport those here illegally. I do believe Obama wants to give those already here, a free pass.

Gun control.. There should be no restrictions whatsoever, once you have the proper credentials. Obama's record with gun owners is as bad as it gets.

I do believe the Teamsters Union has endorsed Obama.. I will never be associated in any way, with any organization, for any reason, who would endorse a far left Democrat.

That is just me. I have no grudge against any current member, but I would never be one.

I should add..

I am not a hard-line right wing person. The far-right loses me when it comes to abortion, civil unions, and morality in general.

The bible beaters seem to have the worst demons in the closet.

The Catholic High School I attended, will not acknowledge, my favorite politician, and fellow alumni, Tom Ridge, due to his stance on abortion and gay marriage. These same people were later caught in a priest/child sex scandal. If these clowns were drowning I would place my foot on their heads.

All that said, I am a capitalist pure and simple. I believe corporate and personal taxes should be low, and the cream should rise to the top...
