Puff,
You have as much right to speak as does anyone else. Your situation however, is not unique, since many members were affected by the doings of NEMF and local 560. In the early 80's, I landed my first Teamster job. The local was 807 during the height of their corruption days. The Business Agent was in my bosses pocket and the boss was able to do whatever he wanted. In my case, there was a split barn with 2 locals. One local was paid much less than the 807 members. The lower paying local was removed, but those of us that started there, were allowed to remain at the lower wage even after we became 807 members. The answer I was given was that my particular route didn't pay as much as other routes, yet the previous driver got 807 scale.....go figure? After about 2 years of being bounced around his various facilities (to keep me at the lower wage), I left and went to another company that paid me the full 807 rate of pay. The only pleasure I get from those days is the knowledge that my former 807 reps have been behind bars since 85, and I have moved on to reep the benefits of my decisions. I have mentioned this maybe once before on these boards, and have never dwelled on it since. You however, constantly harp on your misfortune.
What gets me, and many people here, is that you are the only one complaining about the situation, whereas, others have moved on. Trust me, most of us have compassion for your past plight, however, we cannot stomach your constant, repetitive bashings of us and our union. I, as well as dozens I work with, have been on Teamster jobs that have gone out of business, and yet, we have made the most of the situation and found other Teamster jobs. Why your course of action and path has not been as fortunate, I have no idea. You constantly put us down and say we will be nonexistant in the near future. You are quick to jump on every Teamster job that closes, and blame the Teamsters organization, but when I point out the countless number of nonunion companies that have also closed, failed, or been swallowed up by another company, you skirt the issue and ignore the truth. The truth is,
the Teamsters don't close companies, poor management does....and I really don't care what industry it is either. Another truth is, there are 14 million union members in this country, 1.4 million are Teamsters.
