The sad fact is much of the "immigrant bashing" has nothing to do with their legal status at all. How do YOU know wether the person you are verbally or physically attacking is legal or not? Are you with the INS? Do you have connections with the dmv's database to run someones drivers license? Here is an example of what racism does:
PORT CARBON, Pa. — Three white teens were charged Friday in what officials said was an epithet-filled fatal beating of an illegal Mexican immigrant in a small northeast Pennsylvania coal town.
Brandon J. Piekarsky, 16, and Colin J. Walsh, 17, were charged as adults with homicide and ethnic intimidation in the July 12 attack on Luis Ramirez.
A third teen, Derrick M. Donchak, 18, was charged with aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation and other offenses. All are from Shenandoah, where the attack occurred.
Additional charges are expected in the case that has roiled Shenandoah, a small, economically depressed town where police have reported friction between whites and a growing Hispanic population.
The suspects played football at Shenandoah Valley High School; Donchak, now enrolled at Bloomsburg University, was the quarterback last season.
"As a result of this crime, a young man has lost his life. Many other lives have been devastated, and the borough of Shenandoah has been filled with tensions between many ethnic groups," Schuylkill County District Attorney James Goodman said.
"Now that the criminal charges have been filed, we must let this case be handled in the criminal justice system," he said.
Sounds like a wonderful creedo to me. Lets kill the illegals! I hope these young men go to jail for LIFE!
As far as guns being banned I will say this again; The Supreme court just recently affirmed the second amendment in the case of: District of Columbia v. Heller, 07-290.
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense in their homes, the justices' first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.
The court's 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia's 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the
Second Amendment. The decision went further than even the
Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms restrictions intact.
The court had not conclusively interpreted the Second Amendment since its ratification in 1791. The amendment reads: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
The basic issue for the justices was whether the amendment protects an individual's right to own guns no matter what, or whether that right is somehow tied to service in a
state militia.
Writing for the majority, Justice Antonin Scalia said that an individual right to bear arms is supported by "the historical narrative" both before and after the Second Amendment was adopted.
The Constitution does not permit "the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home," Scalia said. The court also struck down Washington's requirement that firearms be equipped with trigger locks or kept disassembled, but left intact the licensing of guns. Scalia noted that the handgun is Americans' preferred weapon of self-defense in part because "it can be pointed at a burglar with one hand while the other hand dials the police."
As for paying taxes we all have a duty to pay taxes to support our government which in turn divvies up that money for all kinds of programs. Everything from Fire and Police to Military, to parks and services, to FEMA, EPA, to OSHA, to the FBI and CIA, to money distributed to the states for road maintenance. There are literally thousands of programs under written by the federal governement and lets not forget the salaries and benefits for our elected officials all come out of the TAXES we pay.
It is time we stop buying into the fears and prejudices of our parents and grandparents. WE ARE SMARTER, MORE CAPABLE, AND HAVE ACCESS TO INFORMATION FROM THE ENTIRE WORLD. Things our parents never had we have at our finger tips. It is tough to look at the world with an open mind when we have been pre-programmed by our parents to look at others with distrust and fear because they have a different appearance, a different religion, a different language.
I tried to illustrate with earlier posts how our Judeo Christian society is just as GUILTY of murder, rape, incest, hatred, intolerance, and even genocide as documented in the old testament of the Bible.
Too many have used "GOD" as their justification for murder and claim "God" is on their side and therefore their war is righteous.
The Roman Catholic Church was actually called upon in ancient times to validate and sanctify wars in an attempt to get public sentiment on their side.
It is time we left the dark ages aside. Lay down your fears and prejudices. Look at the world with a new set of eyes. A set that is not colored with the blinders called racism and intolerance.
