I can't believe all the Liberal truck drivers we have on this site.

Definition: liberal
adjective/noun
1. broad-minded: tolerant of different views and standards of behavior in others

2. progressive politically or socially: favoring gradual reform, especially political reforms that extend democracy, distribute wealth more evenly, and protect the personal freedom of the individual

Sounds like the main premis of the Democratic party.

Definition:coservative
adjective
1. reluctant to accept change: in favor of preserving the status quo and traditional values and customs, and against abrupt change

2. of conservatism: relating to, characteristic of, or displaying conservatism

3. cautious and on low side: cautiously moderate and therefore often less than the final outcome

Definition: conservative
Noun
1. traditionalist: a supporter or advocate of traditional ideas and behavior

Sounds like the main premis of the Republican Party.

Beginning with the definitions themselves I believe being "liberal" is not a bad thing in this context. My belief structure is in fact more conservative than liberal. The older I get the wiser (I hope) I am getting. Being able to look at both sides of an issue and spending the time to look up supporting documentation for the candidates views permits me to make a balanced judgement.

Of course now a days there is so much garbage on the net it is truly difficult to get an unbiased view on the candidates statements. Everyone seems to want to spin the opposing candidates statements into something sinister.

For example; McCains statements about "Obama is going to raise your taxes." McCain does not even acknowledge the tax loopholes already given to the oil companies nor the tax breaks afforded to the wealthiest 1% of Americans. Neither does he mention that Obama's plan on taxation would actually result in a reduction of taxes on the middle class. For families making less than $150,000.00 per year they would actually receive a tax cut. $150,000 to $250,000.00 would stay the same.

Rather than get into a complete rehash of this entire topic let me offer a couple of my sources so that the members of this forum may do some research on their own. Cqpolitics is the first. Politifact is the second. These are fairly new to me and I have just begun to read the different "facts." In the past I have used newpaper articles for my research but have found that to be very time consuming and less balanced than these 2 new sites (new to me anyway).

Our number one priority in this country should be to protect America. There are many country's that want Americans dead. Americans seem to forget 911, Its no coincidence that we have not been attacked since 911 But we are far from safe. Yes we need change in the United States. The economy, the poor, the middle class, illegal immigrant control, But the security of America must come first and our President must have experience in foreign affairs.

I have not forgotten that 19 hi-jackers hi-jacked 4 planes and 3 of the 4 crashed into their targets (the twin towers of the World Trade Center as well as the Pentagon). These hi-jackers were members of the terrorist group Alqaeda. An organization supposedly led by a man Named Osama Bin Laden a Saudi Arabian National.

I am also aware that the Government of Afghanistan (The Taliban) offered sanctuary and protection to this group.

The United States invaded Afghanistan and overthrew the Taliban in 2001.

We have not captured Osama Bin laden.

Instead our president decided to invade Iraq and overthrow Saddam Hussein (a brutal dictator that had been a US ally during the Iran/Iraq war). The stated mission was to prevent Saddam from acquiring Weapons of Mass Destruction. After invading Iraq, capturing Saddam, killing his relatives, and finally hanging him, we discovered there were no WMD's.

Having an understanding of the middle east and their religious zealotry, it is no wonder to me that there are miltant groups In the middle east foaming at the mouth at a chance to "strike back at the Great Satan" (what they call the US).

We call these groups terrorists because they attack our INVADING army. The citizens of these countries call their men, women, and children, patriots, fedayeen, mujahadeen, and martyrs.

This countries foreign policy includes supporting the Saud family who runs Saudi Arabia in exchange for oil. We look the other way when it comes to human rights for their citizenry. This is emblamatic of our foreign policy "strategy." Our country routinely invades countries using the terms "military consultants and advisors" to explain our presence. We sell weapons to groups that we agree with and wage proxy wars against other countries by using these 3rd parties. We did this in Iraq and Afghanistan to name just 2.

We propped up the Afghan "freedom fighters" during the Soviet invasion and congratulated them for withstanding the Soviet war machine. Now it is our turn to invade and occupy Afganistan but the "freedom fighters" who fought the Soviets are now re-labeled "terrorists."

Lets not forget the no fly zones over Iraq after the first Gulf War and the blatant support of the Kurds by our government.

Our foreign policy is atrocious. "Do what we say or we invade you, bomb your citizens, and overthrow your government." Then we will install a new proxy government that will do our bidding.

I can understand why men, women, and children of the middle east take up arms against the United States. Sorry folks our government is OUT OF CONTROL. We need a new leader at the helm. One that is more introspective. One that is not itching for a war against Iran and Russia (McCain). I suspect our foreign policy strategy for the middle east is to invade and control the entire region and "stabilize" the oil supply and flow to our country. It will also provide a strategic operational base for keeping pressure on China and Russia.

We cannot afford a McCain presidency.

A new leader Democrat or Republican is not going to stop these country's from hating Americans. I don't see how you can understand why men, woman and especially children take up arms against America. Remember, These children are trained to kill and behead Americans. This is not humane nor is it understandable. I don't care who our leader is going to be, Nothing is going to stop these people from planning there next major tragic attack on America. What are we going to do when these countries start firing nuclear warheads at Italy or even America? Should we stand Idle or go to war? No matter who is president (even Obama if elected) We will be going to war again in a foreign country.

The way to get insight on these actions is to seperate ourselves from the rhetoric and then step back into your oppponents shoes. We have an old saying "do not judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes." This is how and why I can understand the anger and hatred against our government.

A little exercise in empathy for you Buster (and others). Lets play role reversal. You are living in the middle east. Struggling to survive while trying to live your life. You have a wife and many children. While out working you hear jets over head and see bombs being dropped. One of those bombs strikes your families home killing and maiming your wife and children. You are not a terrorist yet your family has just been devastated by a foreign nation.

How do YOU react to such an atrocity? I know if ANYONE (a person, an army, or a government) destroyed MY family I would swear an oath of vengeance upon the graves of my family. I would not care about my own life anymore. I would only care about inflicting as much pain on the perpetrators as possible. This is called vengeance. We ALL have it in our hearts. It is just some of us have never been pushed far enough to act on it.

Spend some time learning and reading about our military campaigns directed by our leaders and the atrocities commited to civilians by our soldiers and "accidental" (collateral damage) civilian casualties and I think you too will begin to comprehend the great rage and anger directed towards this country.

Remember too this is an area of the world where religious zealotry is the norm rather than the exception.

Christian culture went through a similar period hundreds of years ago.

The ONLY reason we are engaged in battle in the middle east is for the OIL. There are no altruistic motives there. It is simple greed on the part of our administration. Remember the Prez and VP are BOTH oil men. Why else would we be EXPORTING oil, diesel, and gasoline to other countries??? Again GREED. It is sold for more over seas than it can be sold for here in the US.
