JackBrake12, I think that your post is very well put. To often when I am reading the the post in this section no one gets the fact that, Non Union or Union what happens to one affects the other. Cud dos
I know many of the people at my terminal (Roadway, S. Cal) understand that we need to make changes and adapt to the times. That is why this last contract got such approval ( Right or Wrong) and yes we have people like the sleeper that just don't get it. However I am hopeful and cautiously optimistic that the majority will give it there best shot. Roadhazard makes a good point too; That we need a management team that is more active or involved, not scared of being cut! Willing to make the decisions that need to be made for this to be successful. Employees can only go were management leads. Anyways Good Post Thoughtful and not Hateful! |

The mgmt throughout YRC has to be cautious...they are no different than you guys when watching what facilities are going to be closed/combined...They have futures to think about too...so you cannot blame them for their apprehension right now...it's an ugly bubble to be standing on...you have 3 companies worth of mgmt just like you have 3 companies worth of hourly employees...It doesn't make sense to have 3 chevy dealers on the same street selling the same product, and they know this... you would think that alone would motivate them to be the best they can be, to be able to survive the inevitable downsizing...some respond, others resign themselves...rough spot all the way around..

RH, go over to the velocity thread on YRC, read the posts, then tell me that you are going to blame it on mgmt...when enough GOOD people come together, they can make anything work, whether they are a UE or a SUP...when people go out and sleep in their tractors and laugh about it, well, I guess you get what you get...

As a former teamster of 30 plus years you people had better wake up, the days of waving signs and calling people names are gone, the pension is in bad shape and so is the Union, wake up and look around you.

Most UEs are within 150 miles of the Velocity terminal that they have to go to where they work the dock. In the new contract supplements you only get 1 warning letter before they can fire you. Yellow knows how long it takes to get from point A to point B. Therefore, if a driver takes too long to get to where they need to be, they can be held accountable. If management chooses not to make the changes needed to make the new service work, they only have themselves to blame. A guy on here laughing about sleeping in a truck , may or may not be hauling any time sensitive freight, or he may be Mike Tyson on the CB radio.....only to be Verne Troyer in person. P.S. I see as many non-union drivers on ramps sleeping as I do union drivers.
