LTL DUDE is infamous around these parts
Lightbulb Job security at fedex freight? Not without the union!

Here's my story guys! I'm a former line driver for fedex freight west.I was
there 3 years.I received a 2 year safety award,stellar work reviews(every
six months).I have a spotless driving and work record with previous
employers.I dont miss work or take days off,I have never been late on a
run in my entire career(15 years).I love to drive!I am now going on a year
since my termination.I was fired for calling a co-worker an a-hole. I'm not kidding! Of course people dont get fired for calling co-workers a-hole's.But you do get terminated if you dont want to fit into their clique's.Basically I dont want to spend my days off with my supervisors and fellow drivers.
Some of them are good people, but I have my own life.Yes I could have got
another job the day after.Unfortunately with the economy in the crapper
for the last year the union company's were'nt offering much.FortunatelyI can afford to wait until UPS starts hiring.Unemployment has definately been a
big help.Yes I'm lawyer'ed up and I intend to fight them. Not to sound
immodest but if it can happen to someone who puts in 110% effort,it can
happen to anybody.UPS has been around for 100 successful years and they
still make the most $, and best benefits. Thanks to the teamsters!Join the union fedex'ers, you dont wanna be on this side of the fence. After Obama wins it'll be the perfect time to do it.He's pro union.Good luck drive safe.

You have that right LTL Dude. We had a driver who got fired because a customer called in and said he said something to him. Our SCM hated this driver, so, he was fired.

Another driver had a customer call in for using the same word, was told he was in the clear, then suspended for 3 days with no recourse.

All it takes is a pissed off 4 wheeler or a customer who thinks you dissed them because you didn't stack the freight on their shelves.

You have NO protection from people who take a dislike to you. In this state, they can fire you at will, no reason. And you can't do a damn thing about it.

I know there are a lot of "new" drivers at FedEx Freight, but don't wait 20 years to wish for the Union. The time is now because it's going to take a long time as it is. I want protection from people with agendas. I want to be able to have a witness in the room when they lie to me. I want to be able to make them think twice about fabricating evidence against me.

And for you guys close to on your way out that don't want the union, think about the other guys/gals. If you have good pensions from the military, railroad, or even the Teamsters, think about what lays in store for your fellow workers if we don't Unionize.

We've lost good drivers due to really crappy management. Another driver just transferred because he couldn't take the atmosphere at our SC anymore. He told me that if our SCM was gone, he would be staying. As it is, the place was poison to him.

Think long and hard. Don't just swallow the disinformation that the company will start spewing. Ask questions. Talk to union drivers on the road. Ask them if what the company says is true. Get in contact with the hall. Ask them questions. And don't just blindly swallow what the union says either. Compare and make a decision. If you have had a bad experience with the union, tell them about it and see what they have to say.

If you don't like what's happening at FedEx Freight, prepare yourself for more of the same. You are nothing more than a tool to them, and they will treat you as such.

Viking and AF are dead. This is not a people company anymore.

That's just the way it goes you give them everything you got then when you make a small mistake see ya. That's sad. Nothing like that would have happen to you if you had the union on your side. It would be harder for them to fire you if that was the case. Wish you the best of luck my friend.

JOB SECURITY?

ASK YRC, they have union. Do the still have JOB security?

Hmmm, Union does not always mean Job security in my opionion.

It looks like another union carrier might be going under. This is just my opionion and not directed at any specific individuals.

They just have alot of debt. Things are getting serious over there! If they fold it will affect everyone sooner or later.
