The teamsters have gained in low end and government jobs. They are close to extinct in the trucking business.

Watch the unions, they have been overtaken by the extreme left. They will br out in force at the wacko meeting in DC this weekend.

Google any socialist web site and you will see close relations to the labor movement.

Even the Chair of the AFL-CIO is a card carrying Socialist and proud of it.

Now look at most LTL drivers, are they socialists? Do they support banning guns? Do they hate the US Government? Do they support people like Chavez, Castro or Cindy Sheehan?

No they have been betrayed by the leadership. That is why unions are dying in America...

Enough said..
God bless you Puff for being able to speak openly about what weighs on your heart and mind. This is something many are unable to do these days we live in now. I believe that is why these "leaders" mentioned and unmentioned are able to be successful in what they do daily.

Bir Dog,
You claim to be a Union supporter yet here you praise the #1 Union hater on this board. And most of your posts are very critical of Union leaders. Have you taken a look around the LTL industry lately? Keep praising Puff....he'll be sure to jump up and down in happiness if and when the day comes that the Unions are driven down and you no longer have a job. But hey, he says he treats his employees so much better than us Union guys get treated that maybe he'll hire you and then you won't have to always be critical of Union leadership because thanks to guys like Puff and you there won't be any left to crticize.

I had to look up the word extinct so that I was sure that I understand Puff Driver's post. Extinct- No longer in existence;that has ended or died out.

The major Teamster companys like YRC (Yellow- Roadway- Bestway- Holland & New Penn) ABF & UPS are still alive & doing well.

I have read on these Truckingboards that analysts predict that there are close to 15,000 potential new Teamsters to be organized at UPS - air freight & part timers. Approx. 20,000 potential new Teamsters at UPSF. thats not counting the potential for organizing any dis-satisfied workers at Fedex & Conway.

It appears to me as if the Teamsters are growing in the trucking business & not close to extinction as Puff Driver's post would have me believe.

I have to wonder if he has some facts to back up his post, or maybe it is just wishfull thinking.

Either way, as Bird-Dog said, God bless him.

I think Puff may have read this too.
Bloated Salaries Limit Organizing, Leave Members Cynical | Labor Notes On the other hand, he may have spoken to some current or past members on their own experiences. In the end, even if it any of it is true we must speak over him to preserve our future.....

I don't think anyone would accept that kind of a loss in their 401K without being extremely worried. Especially in a rapidly expanding market. I don't have any numbers on how many drivers there are now compared to 20 years ago, but I would bet there are a lot more. That means that the unions represent an even smaller percentage of drivers than they did then. I would say somebody is not getting their message across. I would certainly be worried if I was pro union.
over 20 years, on an average of $20 a month in dues.. 5 million members.. that equals out to be $24,000,000,000..

seems to be a pretty hefty loss to me..
