Wow. Something must of been brewing for FedEx to put up a website like that.

I've been on both sides of the fence and fought against unionization in my former life. Oh the brainwashing I received until I really attended union meetings and got to understand how a non union company fixated on the negatives and steered clear of the positive aspects of being union.

I am now a happy Teamster at UPSF. (Of course we have growing pains but we have a guaranteed 5 year contract thats proved to be very positive.)
We really do work well with management. UPS encouraged us to go union.
Keywords: UPS 100 years going strong.

The only thing I see FedEx being scared about is losing employee flexibility, having to pay more wages and a middle-man.
I can see a lot of spin on words in that website. Same stuff I learned as a non-union employee.

I remember Teamsters stating that their focus was going to be FedEx. Not sure if they even started anything.
Best bet is to read and understand that website and also attend some union meetings. You will see the differences very clearly.

Read the Fine Print
The Teamster Constitution restricts the freedom of its members and violations of these rules can and do result in disciplinary action, including fines, for its members. The fact remains that the only way to avoid having to work with these restrictions is to avoid membership in a union.

The next time that someone is at one of these anti-union meetings will you do me a favor & ask what kind of freedom is restricted by the Teamster's Constitution?

In the 40 years that I have been in the Teamsters Union I only know of 1 member that was disciplined & had to pay a $400 fine. And that was for his repeatedly filing false charges against his co-workers. The guy was a real "nut case" & had been warned by the union to stop filing those false charges. IMO he should have been thrown out of the union. He still would have kept his job, but since he didn't want to abide by the oath he took, he would have been on his own without the union contract to protect him.

I honestly have never heard of anyone ever being unfairly disciplined under the Teamster's Union Constitution.

I got fined for not paying my dues on time once. Fine? 1 dollar. Does that count? LOL!

I just read that page. It is always so incredible how spinmeisters can redirect language. The reason there are so many fewer union members in the industry is because of deregulation, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with the choices workers made. And it suggests that the only way a person can communicate directly with his or her management is to be in a non-union environment. That is so ridiculous. Every Teamster will tell you that they can meet privately with any manager at any level. There doesn't have to be a third party present. Over the years I have had hundreds of private work related conversations with my dock supervisors right up to the terminal manager, and occasionally even higher.
