for everyone that sounds so unhappy working for a company like estes, why don't you just look for another job instead of trying to ruin a company for everyone else. There are many other companies out there that are hiring for drivers and i don't know of many that pay you for every little thing that you do while you are at work. How many people here have a degree from college and if you have one why don't you go do something you actually want to do in you sorry life instead of trying to milk a company dry???? unions have done nothing for this industry but run companies into the ground until bankruptcy. look at gm, how many people have lost there jobs because the company could no longer afford to pay all the employees what the union was demanding so they shut down plants and restructured to stay competetive....

There has not been one thread, not one that has reflected from the guys out west that they wanted higher wages and the super duper benefits that you accredit to the unions and such.
They have wanted to keep what they had, requested time to collaborate on it and try to get some discussion going on it. But, as usual, they get the same crap that we see on here from you that only try to demean them. You can say all you want about what you make and the such, but if someone came in and took what you have, whether or not it's the same as someone else, you also would try to protect and preserve it. Just like the one that was mentioned earlier about chaining pay, you don't get it. Flat rate does not take into account for mother nature. I've driven the mountains out west and had to chain. Not once do I remember mother nature asking me how much time I have to chain so she could change her conditions to accomodate me. Whatever time it takes to chain should be what a person is paid to do it. OTHERWISE, shut the truck down at a hotel and tell dispatch to come out and chain it.
This is just one of the examples of people who are not directly associated with a situation running off at the mouth.
Union was not the preferred avenue for those who chose to go that direction, but when no one would listen and management basically tells them to screw off and safety tells them to log faster than the speed limit, then union was the only alternative. I'm mixed on the union deal, some pro and some con, but when you have no alternative you try whatever is available.
So you loudmouths that have no clue what you are talking about and continue to slam those who have lost some of their pay/benefits, I hope you get a dose somehow down the road.
Again, you obviously have not read through these threads if you think those guys out west were fight for higher wages. They were just fighting to keep what they had and continue to be paid for being on the clock. NOT ONE PENNY MORE. And no more of the fueling bs, we've heard it all and it's old. Very Old. You do what you want for free. I'll do mine for pay.

1 problem here, you want things they were back in the GI days. we both can agree that you want GI back. problem is i dont want to fight for less, the GI way and i am an Estes West driver, than what i have now. and who are you to tell the company that you want time to collaberate and discuss things about it. you are a driver, a simple driver, thats all just like me i am a driver my opinion dont mean squat to the company and if you think it meant squat to GI you are a FOOL!! no one on the boards opinion means SQUAT to thier respective companys and that is a FACT whether you want to believe it or not. companys buy companys all the time and you really think the company that buys a company cares what the employees think or want?? they dont, the figure if they dont like it they will quit and guess what driver, you ,and me and all of us, are REPLACEABLE!!
next point, i do chain, ALOT, i am sure i chain 5 times more than you do, I make more money with the flat rate than i did being paid by the hour, it takes me 15 to 20 min to chain and 7 min to unchain that = 27 min at $22.00 verses 27 min at 20.50 per hour roughly $10.50 the GI way. ill take estes pay.
next point, i have NEVER and will NEVER be told by dispatch to log faster than the speed limit. i say NEVER have and NEVER will because by them saying that they put themselves in a postition to be sued and/or fined by DOT. and besides that driver would you do it?? if you do you aint the smartest 1 on the block are you, you will have to pay the fine for the log book violations.
next point, i have read through the posts i believe and i am sure you are tired of hearing my point of view, but i will give it anyway
next point, check your pay check driver, last time i checked i am getting paid more than the GI payscale, so in my pocketbook i didnt lose any pay and i believe the benefits are the same as GI.
next point, yes i will do my stuff for free and if you work for Estes so will you. hate to break it to you but if you want paid for every piddly little thing you won't work for Estes.
