true to a point. dockwoker senerio no if he is off the clock he doesnt have to move freight. fueling up truck... different story and here is why, no fuel in truck no worky, as an OTR truck driver i was never paid to fuel my truck. as an employee that hualed gasoline and NGL i was never paid to fuel my truck. i find it very petty and stupid that there are supposed " truck drivers " that have never spent 1 day in a big truck OTR and can sit here and tell me what an *** i am for my thinking, not meaning you flstc200 just the genral feeling i get from others, so as soon as these primidonas get off there high horse and realize what a GREAT kush they have and be thankfull for it, and not expect to be paid for EVERYTHING they do, that includes the 15min BS break they think they are entitled to so they can take a crap, i wont stop being critical of what they want or say.

I consider myself a pretty openminded guy but I'll never understand why guys are willing to work without getting paid? If this were any other job, would you work off the clock without getting paid for it?
I look forward to your reply

well dont get me wrong, i think it would be nice to be paid for everything, however i am not gunna whine and cry over 5 dollars. it takes me less than 15 min to fuel and thats real close to 5 dollars. now if people are out there charging 30 min to fuel i consider that stealing cuse it dont take 30 min to fuel a truck. now i KNOW someones gunna say well we have to wait to get to the fuel island and i dont think you should be paid for waiting to get to the fuel island. does anybody get paid wait time in rush hour L.A. traffic? i hope not but i am sure people are charging for it. this is a trucking company, you all are truckdrivers traffic and waiting to get to the fuel island is part of the job

i just thought of something else that may shed a little more light on my thoughts:
when Estes took over everyone got a .01cpm raise, 500 miles + 1cnt = 5 dollars aka payment for fueling.
also our vacation pay went from 40 hour week to 1200 dollars a week, thats like 200 dollars more a week.
our chaining pay went up to 12.00 to chain 10.00 to unchain, thats up from 20.25 an hour that we were making. = 2 dollar more
and the one that i find the funniest. Estes got rid of that dumb split-pay schedule. let me explain to my understanding if you were hired before april 2003 your top scale was .52cpm after that your top scale was .49cpm, now is that FAIR??? and from what i have heard the same people that are all " we are looking out for everyone in the company thats why we are threating the union " are the same people that had absolutly NO problem with the split pay. now to me thats BS!!!!!
over all if everyone would stop whining and start looking at your pay check you just might see that you are making the same if not MORE money than with G.I.
thanx for listening

Do you think anyone should give up that kind of money to their company?
I just don't understand why folks are willing to work for nothing.

What I have to say is that any person who comes to work does not get paid for his time really does need to look at the company and why. When I show up and other people do not do their job and I have to do it for them for free, right! And as far a breaks employees earn them and they should always have the opportunity to take them with out any BS. To sum it all up why is a billion dollar company worried about breaks and fueling they should be worried of bigger issues in the work place and that is keeping drivers and employees happy and try to listen more instead of putting up walls and fighting the issues of breaks and fuel
