Obviously, I do not have a BA in business management and do not purport to fully understand the intricacies of YRC, the holding company and it's business relationship to it's subsidiaries. But I cannot for the life of me imagine how they [YRC] can go bankrupt without disrupting in some way the companies they own. Maybe you should school me here ok? Because it seems that I don't get it.

I would think at the very least, should YRC, the holding company, go under, it would have the effect of driving customers away from the subsidiaries for fear that their freight may go undelivered. Is there any sense in your opinion to what I'm saying?
I don't have much time to reply. I want to vote before going to work.

The way I understand it is that YRCW, the holding company, assumed ownership of everything when they bought each company.

If YRCW the holding company files chapter 11 it will probably affect every one of it's companies both union and non union. It may give them the excuse to shut down some or all of it's subsidiaries. I believe that chapter 11 gives them relief from their creditors and the opportunity to reorganize.

The only thing that I will say is that all of the YRCW owned trucking companies, both union and non union, were well managed and highly profitable before YRCW starting gutting them in order to pay off it's debts.

I felt all warm and fuzzy inside right up until you said "in unions" For the purpose of this discussion, I'm going to assume you meant labor unions, please correct me if I was wrong. Ok, disclaimer made, let me get to the body of this post.

We, the people of the United States, do need to get back together as a country. But uniting the county's workforce against it's companies isn't going to solve the problem, rather, it will exacerbate it. Since the TARP legislation under Bush 43 and the corporate bailouts under the current administration, we've seen the federal govt taking over 30% of the nation's largest corporations. Given that it's easier for a government to regulate a few larger corporations over a bunch of small businesses, I'm seeing what I believe to be the start of a European style socialist economy forming in the United States.

You know what.....never mind. I'm not going to continue because I don't think I'm going to change any hearts and minds right here. If you're really concerned about the lack of unity in the United States, and you're willing to think outside of the box, just a little bit, then read the book called "Arguing with Idiots" Once you get through that one, read Mark Levin's book called "Liberty and Tyranny" and you will be fully prepared for the assault on personal liberty and freedom that is at hand if people don't start "sticking together" as you put it.
I only listen to them two to see what the crackpots of the country are up to.,..Beck is unstable and needs a psychiatrist,IMO....He is an entertainer. And all about profitss..He is a mutant child of elrushbo and art Bell.
He's a very sick man....alcoholism is an illness and needs a lot more care than he's been giving it....there's a mental part of that illness that he needs to work on,IMO..And Mark Levin(I used to hear on hannity years ago on the radio...is a know-it all creep out to make a buck. Beck is a really sick man.......If you read about certain mental illnesses and listen to him you see some shining through clearly...He's amadman and very dangerous to some kinds of people. I think his agenda isn't this country but the same mentality which is destroying this country.....this is not 1776 and the U.S. constitution is not the bible.......There are probably people who are laying in there graves from suicide listening to people like him and art Belll........all for profits.

No thanks I prefer to read the Pope's writings he makes a lot more sense and favors labor unions.

You make the wrong assumption that unions are for uniting against companies. This is incorrect. Does the mortgage company go against you because it has a legal contract that you sign? No. You are in an agreement together. The day that mortgage companies stop having people sign mortgage contracts is the day that I may consider that unions aren't necessary, but I doubt it.
And the day when contractors stop working by contracts I may consider it. It is the best and most trustworthy way for a business to run as a whole....There is nothing against the company aboout it...it's for the fairness of everyone. Not just the stockholders(who have no idea how to do the job and make a profit, nor just the management side, who also alot of times have their own contracts at the CEO level.......

Please answer this: Does your company's CEO have a contract?

If a CEO does have a contract, does that mean he is against the company as you have stated that the unions are because they want contracts?

Rumor has it that Bill Z. who is in charge of YRC has a contract that makes sure that he gets 14 million + dollars even if we fail.
The board of directors or top stock or shareholders decided that that was fine.......Funny how they think that is not against the company...........but a union contract which will give the other 40,000 of us nothing is against them.

For a little added entertainment I would like you JohnC to imagine that my voice sounds exactly like Beck's or Levin's as you read my posts.....Imagine that they are saying them to you with all of their character, emotions, cockiness and charms.

Let me tell ya. I was knee deep in the last union thing here in the Chicago area about 5 or 6 years ago.

I learned allot from that waste of time.

We had a lot of people saying lets do it and never showing up to meetings Fear was the word of the day at that time. Now the same people who fought us then our the one's who want one now. Hey man you want to start up that union thing, Hell no you want a number and they walk away. Six months of my life I wasted on some of the biggest cowards you will ever have the misfortune to meet.

As for help from the Teamsters we got very little on that op. I can't blame them why waste the money on a ball less group of guy's who could talk a good game.

As for me I think the bulls-eye is almost washed off. Before that I had pretty clean record. After we start I started get written up for anything and almost got canned once. For me its not worth doing. I've Got 12 years of CCX pension, I will have one from the Military and health care covered.

The way I see it many people have made their beds and now they can sleep in them. My fight is with the one who think a dish towel is a hat.

Yeah, that's all they are good at.....accusing people and calling them names. How would you like to go union and be part of that group? Seems like they would be talking a lot nicer to us while trying to get us to join. Accusing and name calling and they wonder why we don't want to have anything to do with them? Tell me, if you were going out with a girl that you liked and then met her family and they were way out there, rude, calling you names and so on, would you dump that broad?
