Central Penna it's strictly seniority, bottom to the top.

At Yellow in So Cali there were 2 different boards, Cartage(PD, dock and hostlers)and Linehaul. You couldn't cross from Line to Cartage and Bump a Cartage from their job. Your seniority was solid there(not like FedEx where whinehaul wants to bump into city and city into dock)as if either were less important.

The first to go were the casuals, then the percenters would not get a work call. If a bid was abolished then whoever was effected would get to bump into wherever their seniority would allow them to within their respective boards. Bids were never abolished according to seniority but based on the needs of the company.

FM, in upstate NY we had separate boards. If you got layed off in linehaul, you were off, no bumping to the city. Only option was an opening in the city, you basicly quit and went to the bottom of the city board, keeping your vacation and company seniority, but lost terminal seniority.

At UPSF in New England its strictly seniority. We have one list so we can bid anywhere we want in the barn with our seniority. Layoffs are by company seniority. Voluntary transfers you go to the bottom of the list but maintain your company seniority for vacations and layoffs. If its a forced transfer or you are transferring to follow the freight you go with your full seniority.

Keep in mind, If a company, terminal, region, Ect, Ect is organizing its up to the employee's to decide what they want as far as one board or two board lists go. A vote would take place and the majority wins and then the local union halls would negotiate this with the company.

Once a year at bid time you can switch to any board, if there is an opening before bid time it will be filled by seniority.
