Default FedEx, UPS clash over bill on FedEx labor rules

Quote:
In question is a reauthorization bill for the Federal Aviation Administration passed in May by the U.S. House of Representatives, under which FedEx employees would be covered by the National Labor Relations Act instead of the Railway Labor Act. The bill is awaiting Senate approval.

If FedEx did not want to be a truck line they should not have baught American Freightways. Thier terminal in Edwardsville, KS is twice the size of our ABF terminal in Kansas City and larger then the YRC terminal. It is about time they had to play by the same rules as the rest of us.

We went through this last time we did this discussion. Fed Ex Freight is not under the Railway Labor Act. They are under the NLRA just like the rest of us. Only the Express guys (Package) are under the Railway Labor Act.

So the union would make it 'bad' for FedEx Express? UPS is doing good, FedEx Express is doing good...sounds pretty level to me. Seems kind of odd that UPS is lobbying Congress for a change in the law or 'loophole'
