Default Millionaire surcharge for the troops

Democrats propose taxes to fund veterans' benefits - Yahoo! News

Quote:
WASHINGTON - House Democrats are proposing a tax surcharge on millionaires to pay for a big increase in education benefits for veterans of the war in Iraq, lawmakers said Tuesday.

The plan, if accepted by rank-and-file Democrats, would clear the way for a vote Thursday on a long-stalled war funding bill that would pay for military and diplomatic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan into next spring.
Quote:
What we're talking about is a one-half percent income tax surcharge on incomes above $1 million," said Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., a leader of the Blue Dog group. "So someone who earns $2 million a year would pay $5,000. ... They're not going to miss it."
And this from the party of defeat. The party that wants to cut funding to the troops. The party that likened our troops to Nazis and terrorists. Now they care, it must be an election year.

When the election cycle started, BHO and Hillary where both talking increasing the taxes on those making over $1,000,000. Then it went to $500k, then $300K now it is down around $200K.
I know a lot of O/O that make $200K gross. How would this change their tax position?

I find the story apauling. For years the Dems have been riping our soldiers, now, it an election lets be all nice. Instead of a new tax, how about you cut spending somewhere?

If Michelle and BHO cant make it on $300K a year, how do they expect us to make it on even less?

The salaries don’t keep up with the cost of paying off the debt, so you’re in your 40s, still paying off your debt at a time when you have to save for your kids,” her highness complained.

Kelly pointed out that in 2005, Mrs. O’s salary was $316,962 at the University of Chicago Hospital. She’s a lawyer, not a doctor.
