This Fair Tax would replace that as a 23% national retail tax. Only those who buy the product would pay the tax. The actual cost of the item would remain the same as now due to elimination of all embedded taxes. Additionally, spending power would be increased due to the elimination of the Fed. Income tax, resulting in an increase in paychecks by essentially your tax bracket... 23% or 28% or... And eliminating the IRS frees up literally hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars in taxes for use toward things such as education, infrastructure and so on. It's a win win for everyone except lobbyists and politicians dependent upon money from lobbyists. |
That is why I clarified. I am all for a flat tax. Not the fair tax. I don't believe that just because you have the money to buy "high end" things should mean you foot the tax bill for everyone. Sounds like BHO talking. |

Sounds like BHO talking. | That's why you should read the books and know what you are talking about.. and what the FairTax is about. The idea of NOT taxing everything under the sun is to limit pricing to existing prices for items such as homes and cars, etc... items that a person with a $40k and up annual income might purchase, while LOWERING prices for items purchased by most all people under a $40k income (thus the working poor, elderly... would pay LESS for items purchased all the time by them). Also, keep in mind that all those foreigners that by real estate and boats and cars, etc... here in this country... are paying that tax.
Now, compared to the FairTax which is laid out entirely for someone to read and see how it works and why it works... show me ONE OTHER IDEA... flat tax, whatever... that has it all planned and figured and explained... and to the point where 73 current members of Congress from both parties support and back this plan? Show me one? You can't, because there are none. Flat tax is merely a concept, an idea... nothing solid, nothing planned out or figured out... and there are a hundred different versions of what a "flat tax" should be and how it should work.
You are stating you are all for a "flat tax" even though there isn't even a singular defined workable plan for one out there (meaning... what is it are you for? LOL) while you are against a FairTax Plan and you know absolutely nothing about it, no matter that it actually has backing and is an exisiting proposed bill in Congress with Congressional backing of 73 members.
Makes sense to me. Not. Read the books and learn for yourself.. what a concept... and then argue for something else if you still are able to. I was a proponent of the flat tax idea until I read about the FairTax, and read the books. No comparison at all. The challenge is... you actually have to want to read and learn about it... don't rely upon what I or anyone else tells you.
I should add, since you favor retention of the IRS and a federal Income tax, just with a different name (yep, makes sense to me)... the US is the only remaining country of the 30 major industrialized nations in the world with a national income tax on people, businesses...everything. Think about that.

You know what, just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean you have to jump on your high horse and try to push your view on me or talk down to me to make yourself look better.
I know about the fair tax. How is it fair for some to pay taxes and others not.
There are plenty of programs out there for the poor. Too many. maybe if they got off their as*, got an education, and worked to better themselves they wouldn't be poor. After all thats why I'm not poor. Of course you consider making $40,000 a year poor. Thats pushing it.
Just because a flat tax isn't spelled out doesn't mean someone can't want it. You have your views and I have mine.
Your condescending posts actually speak volumes. Its obvious to see that its your way or no way. Well sorry I don't think like you but I also thank God i don't think like you.
As far as the 73 in office you keep ranting about pushing for a fair tax, what just because they are I should be. No thanks. I have my own mind and so far I have no problems and live a damn good life. I'll stick with that. It seems to be working for me. Oh maybe thats because we do work. What a concept. Work for a living, and I certainly don't want to pay more taxes and have others not pay a dime. Oh sure that sounds fair.

OK guys... Here's my "stupid" view of politics...
I am blue collar, and working man... so I tend to lean to the Demorcats for this reason only.... It has been the tradition and the nature of the two parties.
Everybody gets the "campain junk" in their mailbox. I still get some for son/daughter even tho they no longer live here. Daughter was here today and says she's really PO'D cuz she thought her "policital party " preference was PRIVATE, esp since she's not ever registered to vote, EVER. But she gets ( and I get campaign mail for her for too )Obama/democrats... She's a school teacher ) And son gets Repub mail at my house....I never influenced his choice, or her choice, either way, but now I know he's a registered Repub, cuz of the junk mail I get for him at my house. Hubby is a Repub... don't know why, except he wants to KEEEP HIS GUN ! He's also a memebr of the NRA.... ( Ok...but this should not be the ONLY reason ) I haven't been getting ANY junk mail for me... I wondered if I lost my registration, let it lapse somehow and now I won't be able to vote...( DAMN )
But I got a sample ballot in MY NAME in the mail today.. WHEW! They don't send me any junk, cuz I have been known to "flip-flop"....Dem or Repub.... not devoted to a single concept, and I am registered to one of them, not an independent or anything like that..... They can't figure out "WHO I am " and my job doesn't give them any clue either...as in Daughter's case, and having no registration at all....
But I vote, and I say, what's the state of the nation, ---pick and choose, the issues and what is most important to you---.And most of all...which canidate do you think will do the best job here...... To help fix the MAJOR issues here.... Not blue collar or white collar issue here, anymore....not conservative or liberal here anymore.... Both parties are crossing the "lines" of traditional party lines here.... Times are a changin'....
Pleeze !!!
Don't just vote because you want a black man here, or DON'T want a black man here.
DON'T just vote because you want a woman in office, or Don't want a woman in office.
Don't just vote for the young man,
cuz you think the OLD man is gonna die soon.
Don't just vote just to keep yer gun.
Don't just vote cuz you are pro abortion....
Please DO go vote...
Get an absentee ballot, and mail it in. I got one for hubby, cuz I knew he was gonna be over the road on 11/4... and he has already voted....
I have already made up my mind, and I have the time to vote on Nov 4th, and I will be voting for the most important issues facing our country and the best man for this job.....
WHO is the BEST MAN for the job here ??? That's what ya should be looking at here....
