If you make $200,000 dollars a year and taxed at 28% you lose $56,000 dollars to the government.

Even though its the same percentage rate, the guy making 200,000 paid higher taxes! Last time i checked, 56,000 is more than 28,000.

Own a mini mansion, higher property taxes.

Utilities on the mansion, i'm sure they are all taxed.

Own a bmw, higher sales tax.

So why do you feel people making more money should also pay a higher tax rate?

Even at the same tax rate they are paying more in taxes.

Want to beat the system, buy a used car and double wide trailer.

Thanks, good information...

my wife works with CEO, CFO, etc...... she will have meeting with these people and do conference calls at 5:00am at 8:00pm. She talks to these people she knows them. They average 70-100 plus hours a week. and never really get to leave work, it goes home with them, on vacation with them, etc....
I have been a VP for several mid-size organizations and have reported directly to CEOs. Their work load is not any heavier than the average IT person, and in general their excessive compensation is not reflected by their corporate guidance or managment skills. Been there done that. I do have to admit though, it is good to be part of executive management...

Here is some more info:
The great overpaid CEO debate - CNET News

I love how the left attacks business people and CEOs. From the same article sited above:
From my experience, I do not believe current executive compensation is justifiable or a reflection of their value to the organization. However, if the shareholders allow it to happen, so be it... "In 2005, a CEO earned more in one workday (there are 260 in a year) than an average worker earned in 52 weeks."

Here's a look at executive pay vs average worker pay in the USA: CEO-to-worker pay imbalance grows

then look at Tom Cruise- $20,000,000 a picture for what 6 weeks work. How come these people are never vilianized like business people.
Jack Welch who used to run GE worked 70 plus hours a week and employed 10's of thousand of people. He was vilianized for his salary, yet TC who works for TC is given a pass.
I believe Jack Welsh is a villain, not so much because of his salary, but because of the business model he introduced...

As for U2 or TC, they're not selling anything other than their talent. The inherent value placed on their talent is a measure of personal taste. If people are willing to pay for that talent, so be it...

I suppose the same could be said for business executives, except there are business measures to gauge their performance and I do not believe they measure up the the value of their compensation based the level of their performance. Current finacial crisis as case in point...

No but they do not deserve any "special treatment" either.
Special treatment?

Oh boy you guys are dreaming if you think your going to get rich doing what you do. Envy the rich and cut there taxes so by the million to 1 outside chance you make it into there ranks you can save some money. Actually I think the State Lotto odds here are 22 Million to 1 but thats beside the point. Bubba points out his experience as a business owner. I have owned my own truck for over 13 years. That qualifies as a small business, most small business last only a year or two.
Joe the plumber thinks he will have to pay too much tax. Most people have no clue about Gross income and Net and they are far differnt. Suppose you Gross $175 K last year running your but off 7 days a week. Not driving ,then you are underneith it fixing something or doing some papework. Them you pay out about 85 to 90 cents or more for every mile you drive in fuel. Then you pay $335++ for every cheap chinease tire you need, Road tax, Licensce, IFTA fuel taxes. Repairs and Truck payments, Insurance and then guess what if your lucky. Maybe you will net 30 - 50 k and thats what you will pay taxes on not $175K. Joe the plumber needs to get an accountant to show him what he needs to do. Besides if the Business he wanted to purchase was actually netting a profit of 250 -280K like he says the seller would probably want at least 5 years times the price. Joe may have touble trying to close a deal thats worth well over $1.25 Million. Donald Trump says he has trouble getting the banks to let some money out.
Joe the Plumber was anouther example of the Republicans trying to pass anouther slick one over you. But they know you keep biting so why not through you anouther.

Arby no one is saying that CEOs don't make a over rated salary that is proven time and again , but they due warrant a larger portion regardless. It has become a norm that the numbers are over inflated just as it is for entertainers and sports personnel.

When you see in say football where a rookie comes in and gets 14 mil even before a snap it is over inflated also.

This is also a large problem these days but it is overlooked and ignored and we do not hear the same criticism , these people do not supply jobs that supply taxes so let us see if they will be attacked with just as much vigor.

If we are going to be fair go after them to.

Her's my issue with y'alls arguement:
- you are equating entertainment with productivity. They are not the same and cannot be measured the same.
- CEOs do not provide jobs, the organization they work for do. They ideally receive compensation for how well they lead the organization.

Current trends do not reflect executive compensation that is based on their performance or that of the company. That's not fair to shareholders or workers, both who ultimately lose while executives walk with millions/billions.

In public companies shareholders will ultimately have to solve this through their board of directors...

Private companies are a another matter and it's between owners and investors...

Fine , fine but isn't it all about going after the Rich? Well they are Rich also and if we are going to go with the theme of spreading the wealth around we need to target them also , it is so unfair that they live in those expensive houses and drive those expensive cars , when after all it is about giving to those who do not have those luxuries.

Don't you think the disparity of Ophra , or Bono , or say Brett Farves bank acount and what they pay in taxes should be looked at as a target so that the money can be spread around to more people than just those few?

In the spirit of reglatory legislation we need to also regulate the cost to go to a movie , or a game and what those entertainers are allowed to get off of promotional deals. Don't we need to limit what they are allowed to make/charge that is the spirit after all is it not now that would be fair.
