Like I have said, the system is broken, Bubba. Maybe 85 percent have a plan but the copays, deductables and premiums are high and getting higher. Soon it will be 70 percent since so many are out of work or had wage cuts.
I never said the system was not broken, I have simply stated that more govt is not the answer, less govt is. I know it has gone up, when my last son was born, we paid a $10 co-pay and that was it. The kid now eats more than $10 at McDonalds. Last year a co-worker of mine was having a baby. It was $20 every time she went to the doctor. The difference was a mere 7 years. My deductible have gone up, yes it has gotten more expensive. Part of the reasons are the got mandates, combined with lack of portablity, combined with the lack of sales across state lines, combined with our legal system, etc....Yes, the system is broken however, I would rather deal with a broken system than a system run by govt. I dont want my health being administered by a buearcrat. I dont like the public school system so I sure as heck would not like the public hc system. There will be no choice. The private sector cannot compete with govts access to unlimited funds (though taxation) that is why no one has started a railroad to compete with Amtrack.

The doctors aren't going to go away, but they will have to start living like normal people, not the overpaid gods that they have become.
I dont begrudge anyone from making a good living. Doctors has a special skill set and, IMO earn every dime they make. My sister-in law is a doctor, she pulls in about $200K a year, however, she did not start living until she was 31 years old. It was all school and even though she is making great scratch, she still has tremendous debt. In addition, she must cover 1/2 of her malpractice insurance so $20K goes right out the window.
I would much rather pay a doctor $1M a year than someone like Tom Cruise $20M a picture. After all, who contributes more to mankind? yet entertainment and athletics are always given a pass. The businessman that employs 10,000 is a villian yet Drew Barrymore, who actually makes more and employs no one (maybe a publicist, nanny, etc) is a hero.

As I suspected you don't want change since you still have a gold plated heathcare plan. Your 10 dollar copay indicates that. Most people pay 30 to 50 dollars for a Dr. visit and for many that's only AFTER a high deductable is paid for. Specialists cost more too often even with a referral from your primary care doctor. Its not uncommon to see plans with 4000 or 5000 dollar deductables and some plans don't cover maternity care. Lifetime limits are falling with some plans at 2 or 3 mllion dollars then its out of pocket for care, be it cancer or heart disease.

had, those plans are long gone, except for govt employees. My co-pay is $20, to see a specialist $50, and I need to go to a specialist for my foot.

48 states require maternity coverage to write a policy in their state.

Regardless, I agree the system is broken, however, I dont feel that it is right for the govt to create a responsibility for me, to pay for a "right" for someone else. Especially when there is no accountibilty for the person recieving the "right."

The BHO wants to focus on preventative care to cut costs. One of the leading causes of cancer is smoking and tobacco use. To reduce HI costs, then the govt (if they really gave a crap) would make tobacco illegal. however, they will not, its not about caring, it is about control. Control of 1/7th of the economy.

Not all plans included maternity coverage, only SOME plans. That's how tricky the health insurance swindlers can get by with so much corruption and skirting the laws.

That graph, which I apologize was piss poor, 48 states require maternity on health insurance plans.
Insurance is one of the most regulated industries in the nation.
