More jobs AND Tax Payers money leaving thanks to free trade.............Once again, the people are getting screwed by big corporations. Why are these companies allowed to do this? Why is there no clause to refund our money should they decide to pack up shop and move abroad?

Little more than a year after cutting the ribbon at a new factory in Devens built with more than $58 million in state aid, Evergreen Solar today said it will shift its assembly of solar panels from there to China.

Boston Globe article ...........

Refund what money? If you did put a clause like that in what ever your talking about. Then where does it end? What if this company wanted to move to Kansas. Then the state of Colorado would say you owe us money because your leaving our state.

And can you put a clause in, when there is no contract. And doesn't anyone look at our tax rates!? The United States has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world.
How about we lower that to around 10 or so, and lets see what happens. Lets do that before we are start putting in more laws.

The only frustrating part to me is that you are delusional enough to ignore facts and believe every left-wing site ever written without evidence or logic tying them to real-world situations.....

Sorry stoney that's not the problem, free trade doesn't work very well unless your the country with the lowest standard of living. They can lower corporate taxes and it still wouldn't bring jobs back unless we are willing to work for sweat shop wages. The world has change and America will not have a manufacturing industry unless the rules are changed.

I would say they refund the taxpayers money that they got to start the biz since they aren't committed to keeping all of the jobs in America.

The clause I would refer too would be tarriffs on imports from countries that did not match the American standards on various aspects.........just like you had pre NAFTA.................. And as for corporate taxes, that is a sham some are still falling for. Do you think corporations are going to China for lower tax rates or for the Dollar a day wages?

Corporate Traitors: The Decline of Corporate Taxes in America

In 2003, ten companies each reported more than $1 billion in profits to their shareholders, yet paid no federal corporate income tax. Collectively, these firms that have claimed the only way they can remain competitive is through tax breaks, earned $30 billion in profits and paid their CEOs $126 million in 2003. The average pay of the CEOs of the corporate Benedict Arnolds was $12.6 million, 51% higher than the pay of the average large-company CEO as reported by Business Week.

America's Corporate Benedict Arnolds

While I see this as a good start for America (not so good for canada) I would like to see us reach a point where we revert to the pre-reagan-nafta times and have an Auto Pact based trade instead of both sides constantly retaliating with different moves.............

Fallout from the Buy American protectionist measure

For the second time in six months, pipe fittings in California are being ripped from the ground because they were stamped "Made in Canada," a move manufacturing companies say hurts both sides of the border.

the story-

‘Buy American horror stories' building
