"Home" qualifications
I am just beginning an OTR career and am planning on renting out the house I currently live in. I'm single and plan on being away from home a lot so I see no sense in leaving the house vacant so much of the time. I have a brother who has volunteered to store my furniture in his basement and rent me a bedroom for the times I am in town.
My question is will this qualify as my "home" so that I can claim per diem deductions for those many nights I am away from it?
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
