Is the per diem different for each location? What is it for the day you head out and the day you return (a percentage)? Is there a website with this info?

Page 6 publication 463 off the irs.gov website center column for dot workers or you can go to gsa.gov click on per diem. The pub 463 is showing $52 a day but it has risen to $58 they just haven't updated that pub yet. Or you can use the IRS Pub 1542 for per diem rates. Or I can e-mail you a list for FY 2009 (I would need to have your regualr e-mail address).

If you frequently travel multiple cities with diiffrent per diems and you dont want to have to figure for each city you can take the average which is $58 a day. Say I leave at 6 Am on Monday from my travel home in Houston Texas to drop in New york City on wednesday then I leave there and go to Charlote NC and drop on Friday then from there back to Houston and Drop Monday at 6PM Youd figure 7 1/2 days at $58 per day( Monday6am-Monday 6pm)
