i went passed this accident as the DOT boys were doing their job on the truck driver. Before I retired I was the chief of the fire Department that responded to the call. Called the fire house and found out the three kids in the car had been driving erratically and speeding just before they ran off the roaad to hit the trailer, that was about four feet off on the shoulder. The car hit the trailer square in the a**. Not the truck drivers fault but I bet they try to make it his fault.

I hear you xchief, the authorities will say this semi shouldn't have been broken down,or parked there.
In one of the photos I noticed the front hood was opened on the tractor,so if there were no reflective triangles they may be able to site the trucker for being there.
Not the fact the teenaged driver was driving crazy.
In most cases the authorities look at the professions to be responsible, unless the actual blame can go to others involved.

Yes it is a cruel world live in today, every commercial driver has to be focused on what they are doing, and make sure they have a good reason for their actions to cover themselves in cases like this senseless crash.
