The Bush administration plans to defend its new fuel efficiency requirements for most sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks and vans after a federal appeals court rejected the plan last year.The Justice Department, in a petition filed last week, asked the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco for a rehearing before the full court on the proposed fuel economy plan.
