Morning commuters were expected to encounter cleared highways and main roads on Monday in those parts of the state hit by a record-setting snow storm that shut down highways and stranded air travelers over the weekend.
Snow plows and cleanup crews worked overtime on main streets and highways Sunday, pushing away snow that began falling Friday and didn't completely let up until Saturday evening.
Crews cleared most areas where drifting was a problem along major highways, and state officials vowed to work through Monday to scrape all snow down to the pavement to allow for additional salt treatments.
Commuters heading back to work were still urged to use caution.
