Now that's a detailed map Mr. Smith. What surprises me is that it actually makes sense when you take the shipping lanes into account. Cheaper gas around Texas and the Gulf states where a lot of crude oil is pumped and turning more expensive going west and not quite as fast as it goes east. That's assuming that most of our imported oil comes into the Gulf as well. If that's wrong then my theory just went out the window.
That wouldn't explain why the North West is so expensive with the tanker ships brings it down the west coast from Alaska. That's probably the differences in taxes like you said. Those guys out west are really getting the short end of the stick.
