U.S. Senate OKs citizenship test for CDLs Quote:
The U.S. Senate approved a port-security bill Sept. 14 that would require the U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure that CDL applicants are legal citizens. Currently, only hazmat haulers must prove their citizenship.
Senators unanimously passed the amendment, introduced by Mark Pryor, D-Ark., and Jim Talent, R-Mo., which requires the U.S. Department of Transportation to implement its 2004 recommendations to crack down on CDL fraud.
