Drivers who aren't satisfied with radio traffic reports every 10 minutes can sign up to receive e-mail alerts under a system the state launched Tuesday.
Commuters must first register at Illinois Traffic Alert System. Then they can choose from among dozens of routes on Chicago-area expressways and toll roads, the planned travel period and the days in which they want to receive electronic messages.
